Summer's hottest food ticket returns to the Westside as JCT. Kitchen & Bar hosts the Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival on Sun., July 21. This lusciously seedy slice of Southern food fun benefits Georgia Organics and showcases regional farmers as well as the South's top chefs and mixologists. Food stations will be set up inside the restaurant and outside on the patios and walkways of the surrounding complex. Festivalgoers and high-profile judges — Garden & Gun Deputy Editor Dave Mezz, James Beard Award–winning authors Matt and Ted Lee, Food & Wine Associate Food Editor Daniel Gritzer, and Esquire restaurant features writer John Mariani — will vote for their favorite dishes and beverages, with winners announced in the late afternoon. The Lees also will be on hand signing copies of their new cookbook, The Lee Bros. Charleston Kitchen, with copies available for sale, courtesy of A Cappella Books. And back by popular demand, the high-energy '80s tribute band the Spazmatics and local chef band Five Bone Rack will keep the crowds entertained throughout the afternoon.
