Every now and then an artist makes some new big waves with what appears to be a rehash of some musical style from the distant past. Oklahoma's JD McPherson does just that by mining the roots of rockabilly combined with some classic rhythm and blues from deep in the dusty record bins. His current album, Signs & Signifiers, is packed with one great tune after another, blending multiple retro genres into an authentic, cohesive, and powerful package.
