A longtime fixture in experimental indie, Tim Kinsella has served as the leader of Joan of Arc since the 1995 demise of emo pioneers Cap’n Jazz. The group was recently augmented by the addition of Cap’n Jazz/Owls guitarist Victor Villarreal, whose familiar, dense guitar work rounds out JoA’s latest LP, Life Like. Kinsella’s purposely oblique music tends to elicit a love/hate reaction, but his devoted fans are near-zealous in their admiration.
