La Tavola Trattoria has been a steadily popular mainstay of Virginia-Highland since its opening in 1999. It's a neighborhood restaurant through and through, from its glass storefront location to its cozy 55-seat dining room and tiny bar. The regular menu consists of classic; carefully coddled Italian fare such as thin-as-a-whisper spaghettini flanked by hulking veal and pork meatballs, cheese and meat manicotti, and genuinely spicy chili-rubbed roast chicken. Chef Craig Richards does the classics great justice; however, the regional specials that appear throughout the year are where the magic lies.
