R&B legend Anita Baker is set to visit Chastain Park Amphitheatre for two big shows July 14-15 — and CL recently chatted her up about the impending musical extravaganza:</
You haven’t played Atlanta in a while. How do ATLiens respond to your live shows?</
When I came to Chastain in 2003, I looked up at the audience and saw Chris Tucker sitting there and members of the King family. I was so [honored], I was practically crying after every song!</
Have you always possessed such a rich, distinct voice?</
My voice has always been very distinctive. When I was 12 years old, I really didn’t like to talk because my voice was very deep. I wanted to sound like the all the other girls, who sounded kind of high and squealy.</
Backed by live instrumentation, your music sounds incredibly organic. But have you ever thought about using electronically crafted tracks?</
Oh, hell no. I’m just not one of those people. That’s like kissing a dead guy.</
