Let it snow

Thanks to his platinum-selling album Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101, ATL rapper Young Jeezy is one of 2005's most successful new stars. But he has also generated controversy for his official logo, an illustration of an angry snowman. His critics charge that the "snow" is a metaphor for cocaine, and have accused him of glamorizing drug dealing.

Neither Young Jeezy nor representatives at his record label Def Jam could be reached for comment. But we were able to track down the Snowman himself in Midtown Atlanta. Here's what he had to say about the controversy.

So what's the Snowman all about?

The Snowman is all about the grind, homie.

Is "snow" a metaphor for cocaine?

Naw, shawty. The Snowman is really something for the trap. The people love me. The kids love me. Even the old people love me.

I ain't about dealing drugs. I'm a young hustler getting my money right. The streets know what this is. The people who ain't on the streets, and just speculate and listen to what the other man told them, don't really know the truth.

Are you saying that the stories being reported on CNN, and in USA Today and other publications are inaccurate?

Thaaat's riiight! All those reporters ain't really out here. I mean, I'm out here every day, grinding, getting my money.

But the critics don't faze me. How do you think I'm out here getting it every day, rain or shine, when I'm made of snow? I don't melt, homie. I stay hard.

So how do you get your money?

Man, I got sponsorships. My T-shirts are so hot, motherfuckers are bootlegging my shit. Little kids be wearing my shit. Everywhere you look, whether it's on TV or on the block, you see my image. I'm a corporate thug, homie. I'm proof that you don't have to do dirt to get that money.

Thank you for your time, Snowman. Is there anything you'd like to add?

Yeah, I'd like to give a big shout out to Young Jeezy for putting me on this shit and giving me a chance to eat. Yeeaaah!
