When bass player Brian Gibson and drummer/vocalist Brian Chippendale of Providence, Rhode Island noise rock duo Lightning Bolt come through town, it’s always a party. Rather, it’s an immersive experience — a celebration of ecstatic freak out driven by a volatile grind of grumbling bass distortion and a percussive hail storm, all driven into maximum overdrive. For years these two have opted to forgo the stage, instead choosing to set up their gear in the middle of the room and pull the crowd in around them, breaking down barriers that separate audience from performer. It’ll be loud, and maybe even a little bit scary, but in the end Lightning Bolt’s shows are always a cathartic experience. Atlanta bands God’s Balls and El Fossil open the show.
