Film Brief - Local heroes

Atlanta-based Nomad Pictures will present Atlanta Movie Night, a “micro-festival” of locally produced feature films, on Thursday nights at Buckhead’s Club Carnival.

The four-night program begins April 26 with a special preview night of Jinx’d, Nomad Picture’s first feature film, directed by Lithonia native Damon Wood and written by Randy Stewart. Hot 97.5 radio personality Ryan Cameron plays a stand-up comic whose unexpected notoriety gets him into a rivalry with star comedian Masta Jinx.

Other films presented on Atlanta Movie Night include Hoochies (Simboya Entertainment), starring Tempest and Keisha Jones, on May 3; the crime drama Urban Heat (Five Star Bibbs Entertainment), starring Angela Radis and Lil Noah, on May 10; and Matt Green’s voodoo-themed horror thriller Severed (Porter Productions) on May 17. Fans of Atlanta theater will recognize Urban Heat’s Cedric Pendleton and Jinx’d’s Hugh Adams.

Atlanta Movie Night will be held at 8 p.m. Thursdays through May 17 at Club Carnival, 210 Pharr Road. $10. 770-482-4834. ??
