Lust List 2013: Matt

Job: Bartender, Bone Garden Cantina

Age: 29

Relationship status: Single

His admirers know him as "Dreamy Matt" around Bone Garden Cantina, where he moonlights behind the bar, carefully working his way through the restaurant's tequila selection. But his dream is to make it big with his band StoneRider. With a laid-back demeanor, long brown hair, and sleeves of tattoos, he's certainly got the look to pull it off. Though he may be all rock 'n' roll on the surface, he's a softy on the inside. In fact, the trait he most looks for in a woman is a "good heart."

What band were you obsessed with when you were 14?

Led Zeppelin. I'm still quite obsessed with them, not much has changed.

What's the last thing that made you cry?

Probably that video on YouTube where the dog befriends the elephant at the elephant reserve in Africa. I think the dog gets sick and the elephant sits by the fence all night and cries. Yeah, that was tear-jerking.

What movie would you most like to live in?

Whatever moon they're on in Avatar.

What's the best way for a customer to hit on you?

Just be straightforward, buy me a shot.

Is there a drawback to being attractive?

I guess not, no not really. I'm pretty happy with who I am. It's hard to answer that without sounding conceited.

What's your sexy-time soundtrack?

Otis Redding for sure. And Shuggie Otis.

With whom would you like to play Truth or Dare?

Maybe Gandhi, that'd be kind of interesting.

Where would you go on a bucket list vacation?

Does space travel count? I'd like to float at least once in my life.

If you had to spend $1 million in one afternoon, what would you do?

Probably take a lot of random people out for an extravagantly expensive steak dinner, and maybe throw some of it off an overpass on I-75 or I-85 and create a little bit of havoc.

Why do you think someone nominated you for the Lust List?

I have no idea; it's very flattering.

What do you like best about your job?

I like to converse with people at the bar. It's a different aspect than serving, you know, working tables, you have a slightly different podium.

What's your standard drink?

I've grown to appreciate tequila since working [at Bone Garden for three years]. There's a pretty extensive collection. But I generally have some kind of beer or Jameson on the rocks.

What's your guiltiest pleasure?

I've been eating a lot of dark chocolate recently.

What's your least favorite household chore?

Probably scrubbing the bathtub.

Describe your relationship to exercise.

I usually exercise when my body tells me I need it. I've always kept pretty fit. When I start feeling like a slug I work out or go for a run.

What's the last good book you read?

Probably Joseph Campbell.

What do you wish someone would hurry up and invent?

Teleportation, hands down.

What's the lamest pickup line anyone's ever used on you?

I don't really get pickup lines. I get numbers sometimes.

What's the first album you bought with your own money?

I think Tom Petty's Greatest Hits. Either that or Aerosmith's very first record.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

What's the one thing you most hope to accomplish this year?

I would like to record a new record and tour.

What's your least favorite thing about Atlanta?

I don't know, maybe the public transit, not that I use it a lot.

Name one thing you've stolen.

Last thing I remember is candy from a store when I was a kid, usually bubble gum.

Who's the most important person in your life?

Probably my mom. She's kind of the rock of the family. She always has been. As long as my mom's proud of me, everything else is cool.

Have you ever been dumped? If so, what was the reason?

Yeah, I've been dumped before. I think everyone's been dumped before. Usually someone starts to fancy someone else or, you know, they've had their time of you and for whatever reason they're done.

What's your pettiest relationship deal-breaker?

I don't know if it's petty or not, but bad breath.

What would you order for your last meal?

I don't really eat a lot of red meat, but I had a couple of lamb burgers in the U.K. that blew my mind, so I'd probably be OK with a lamb burger. Minced lamb with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, some sort of cheese.

How much would you charge to murder a stranger?

At least $1 million. Murder's pretty serious.

How do you handle rejection?

You just kind of have to suck it up, ask yourself why you're bummed about it in the first place. If it has something to do with my own hang-ups, then that's something to look at.

What did your parents want you to do with your life?

I was always into the arts of some sort, primarily painting and drawing when I was a kid and then in my teens it kind of switched to music. My parents have always encouraged me to do whatever makes me happy, but I remember getting the architect thing a lot when I was a kid. "You should be an architect because you can draw. You can make a lot of money at that."

Have you ever stalked someone on Instagram?

Not really.

How often do you talk to your mother?

Usually a couple times a week, we have pretty opposite schedules, but at least once a week.

What's your preferred footwear?

Other than moccasins, probably my boots.

What's the most romantic place in Atlanta?

The top of the Georgian Terrace.

What's your wackiest piece of personal trivia?

I can't think of one. Can we come back to this one?

What's your weirdest recurring dream?

I recently had a lot of tornado dreams. I get the occasional teeth-falling-out dream. I hate that dream. I even start thinking about the dental bills in my dream.

What personal attribute are you a sucker for?

People with a good heart.

Not counting rent or bills, where does most of your disposable income go?

Maybe music gear or records and tattoos.

What's you life ambition/grandest dream?

To sustain myself happily playing music.

Have you ever stolen a friend's girlfriend?

What's your own character flaw you'd most like to fix?

I could drink less coffee.
