Mark Kurlansky has a rather famous knack for using a small subject to tell a big story. His book Salt explained much of the history of global commerce through the lens of our common table salt. His latest, Ready for a Brand New Beat, suggests that the Motown hit "Dancing in the Street" was an integral element in changing American history after 1964. Intrigued? You can hear him discuss it at the Decatur Library Auditorium on Wed., July 17, at 7:15 p.m.
