Martin Luther King Day March

This year’s Martin Luther King Day march took place Monday, January 19, 2009. The march, which started almost an hour and a half late, was not as crowded as year’s passed with fewer people lining the beginning of the route on Peachtree Street. It also seemed more commercial with many banners having King photos alongside corporate logos or adds for local businesses. At the march, which came the day before Barack Obama’s inauguration, references on placards to Obama far outnumbered those to ML King, Jr.
