ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, THE EXPLOSION, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY -- Screaming out of the garage with their souped-up new album, Group Sounds (see record review, p. 85), retro-futurists Rocket From The Crypt burn clean through a mix of horns, hollers and high-octane rock 'n' roll mixing '50s grease with '90s grit. Along for the ride are Boston's the Explosion, who prove the spirit '70s nihilistic punk rock rebellion remains culturally relevant.. Desperation never sounds so desirable. Sweden's I.N.C. make mod-punk with a funky Communist bent (see article, p. 77). Echo Lounge (Ware/Hutchinson)
