MONDAY, APRIL 30

DEATH OF MARAT, CITY OF CATERPILLARS, ELECTROSLEEP INTERNATIONAL -- Electrosleep are one of Atlanta's rock gems -- pure energy in a pressure cooker. Death of Marat, from Phoenix, Ariz., churn out some rather dark math/post-punk. City of Caterpillars features members of the formidable pg 99. Eyedrum (Foy)

THE FUCKING CHAMPS, DRUNK HORSE, LADIES NIGHT -- The Champs added the "Fucking" to their name not only to avoid confusion with the '50s instro group ("Tequila"), but also to let everybody out there know how serious they are about playing Iron fucking Maiden-like harmonized metal through the black-framed eyes of the indie rock world. Opener Drunk Horse play a grittier Stones/Doors type of raw bluesy bar-band party rock. Local power trio Ladies Night also perform with a calculated math-rock take on Led Zeppelin cock rock. The Earl (Ware)

SADIES, COLE SKINNER & THE MIDNIGHT APPOINTMENTS -- Best known as Neko Case's backup band, the Sadies are actually a fiery cowpunk outfit all their own, serving up twangy spaghetti-western instrumentals and rollicking frontier ballads. Echo Lounge booker Cole Skinner (Jitney Rats, Snakehandlers) books himself as opener to show off his own latest Americana-flavored ensemble. Echo Lounge (Nicoll)
