See & Do - Music: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club June 06 2007

Thurs., June 7

Despite an almost 10-year career riddled with such speed bumps as being dropped from its label (Virgin Records) and nearly losing its drummer to substance abuse, San Francisco’s BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB continues to make solid blues-and-rock-influenced Brit pop. 2005’s Howl was chock-full of stripped-down Americana – a departure from the group’s original formula of distorted, gleaming guitars and drowned-out vocals. The band’s new album, Baby 81, hints at Howl’s spare sound, but is more heavily invested in the Brit-pop style at which the group excels. BRMC plays the Roxy on Thurs., JUNE 7, with the Cobbs. $27. 8 p.m. 3110 Roswell Road. 404-233-7699. www.livenation.com.
