Conor Oberst began his professional career at the tender age of 14, and became a media sensation in his early 20s as the leader of BRIGHT EYES (right), crafting dark, acoustic-based albums such as 2000's Fevers and Mirrors. With 2007's Cassadaga, the Nebraskan singer/songwriter has matured into a fountain of Americana, using up-tempo, full-tilt boogie as well as balladic solo guitar for his vivid and confessional lyrics. Bright Eyes' Fri., MAY 18, show features opening performances by equally acclaimed musicians Gillian Welch and Oakley Hall. $25-$30. 8 p.m. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. 404-881-2100. www.foxtheatre.org.
