Music: Goapele

Thurs., Jan. 31

The Bay Area has an indie-soul scene as vibrant as Atlanta's, and boasts such alums as Keyshia Cole, Ledisi and GOAPELE MOHLABANE. Goapele sings with a light, trebly delivery that nearly sounds operatic. She's best-known for her 2005 major-label debut, Change It All, although she hasn't released any music since then. Now an independent artist again and working on her third album, Goapele brings her fine soulful voice to Sugarhill Thurs., JAN. 31. $20. 9 p.m. 50 Upper Alabama Road. 404-658-0068. www.sugarhillatl.com.
