Music: John Prine

Sat., May 17

JOHN PRINE followed his 2005 Grammy-winning comeback album, Fair & Square, with last year's Standard Songs for Average People, a typically off-kilter affair in which he paired with bluegrass legend Mac Wiseman. Prine's always been one to take his music and lyrics as they come, and his return from a bout with throat cancer affirmed his staying power. Like Bob Dylan bonked on the head, Prine's ability to find the humor and pathos in life on the fringe of society never grows old, and his live performances are best enjoyed in an intimate space. Prine performs Sat., MAY 17, in such a venue, where the audience can watch him put on his "Illegal Smile," introduce lovable losers like "Donald and Lydia" and "Sam Stone," and wish for his "Angel from Montgomery" one more time. $48.50-$58.50. 8 p.m. John A. Williams Theatre, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2 Galleria Parkway. 770-916-2800.
