When KEYSHIA COLE released The Way It Is in late 2005, many compared her to a young Mary J. Blige. Both women suffered through tough childhoods, and Cole exhibits the same kind of swagger as Blige, the queen of hip-hop soul. But Cole, an Oakland, Calif., native who recently moved to Atlanta, has defined her own voice. Her new album, Just Like You, comes out Aug. 28, making her Sat., AUG. 25, concert at Center Stage something akin to a CD release party. J. Holiday, a promising R&B singer and recent Atlanta transplant, opens. $34. 9 p.m. Center Stage Atlanta, 1374 W. Peachtree St. 404-885-1365. www.centerstage-atlanta.com.
