On each of its four albums, New York band LIARS has subtly evolved its sound to increasing critical acclaim. For the 2007 album Liars, the band truncated its usual long, meandering improvisations into short, sharp rockers punctuated by blasts of guitar feedback and squalls of noise. The band seemed out of place when it opened for Interpol last fall at the Tabernacle. As a headliner Thurs., FEB. 14, at the Earl, Liars get a chance to let their freak flag fly. L.A.-based comrades No Age join in on the fun. $15. 9:30 p.m. 488 Flat Shoals Road. 404-522-3950. www.badearl.com.
