Sure, concerts and festivals are fun, but everyone knows the real can’t-miss moments take place at the oh-so-chic after party. That’s certainly the case with the Music Midtown After Party, which gets rolling Fri., Sept. 20, at Whiskey Park at the W Midtown-Atlanta. Presented by Creative Loafing and Red Bull Sound Select, this harmonious happening caps off the first night of Atlanta’s premier music festival with exclusive performances from a pair of rising talents. New Jersey hip-hop singer/songwriter Stori landed a deal with Motown on the strength of her ability to flitter deftly between rap and R&B on such tracks as “Stori Time,” “Pocketbook,” and “Losing Me.” Atlanta’s own Scotty ATL first turned heads with 2011’s “Husslin’,” and has amassed a growing fan base with a versatile sound that often recalls early OutKast or Goodie Mob on the recent mixtape F.A.I.T.H. (Forever Atlanta in the Heart). DJ DiBiase and DJ Jelly round out the bill. The event is free, but those who want to attend must RSVP ahead of time at redbullsoundselect.com/events.
