Music: Os Mutantes

Fri., Oct. 16

After 35 years of resting on legends and laurels, OS MUTANTES' founding frontman, Sergio Dias Baptista, now presides over a new version of Sao Paulo, Brazil's original '60s-pop tropicalia freedom fighters. Along with original drummer Dinho Leme and a handful of younger players, the group is touring in support of its first new album since 1974, Haih or Amortecedor. Os Mutantes' Brooklyn-based musical descendants De Leon open the show. $25-$27.50. 8:30 p.m. Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. 404-524-7354. www.variety-playhouse.com.
