As lead singer of System of a Down, SERJ TANKIAN led one of the best bands (one could argue the only good band) to emerge out of the hard-rock/metal bloom at the decade’s start. Progressive rock, avant-metal, strangely operatic vocals and left-wing politics are some of the ingredients in that trend’s stew. Tankian has carried the same aesthetic to his new solo album, Elect the Dead. Atlanta marks the first date on his national tour, Mon., FEB. 11.
