Ever since Music Midtown disappeared after the summer of 2005, Atlanta has lacked a multiday festival featuring national talent. This year, the ECHO PROJECT fills that void. Starting Fri., OCT. 12, the Bonnaroo-style event offers 350 acres of campgrounds, environmentally friendly energy resources and activities, and a slate that ranges from platinum rock band the Killers and Cat Power to influential rappers GZA and Slick Rick and electro-house duo MSTRKRFT (pictured). Dozens of local performers, including Snowden and Col. Bruce Hampton, will play as well. For more on the Echo Project, click here. Through Oct. 14. $135 for Saturday/Sunday passes; $85 for Sunday passes; $178.50-$200 for weekend passes. Bouckaert Farm (see website for directions). www.the-echoproject.com.
