See & Do - Music: Van Morrison April 02 2010

Fri., May 7

He was born George Ivan Morrison, but to his fans, he’s “Van the Man.” The Belfast, Ireland-born singer/songwriter has hypnotized audiences for the better part of five decades. His 1968 album Astral Weeks is widely regarded as one of the greatest records of pop history, though it resonates on a much deeper level than his “Brown Eyed Girl” radio fodder that first caught the world’s attention. Still glowing from the release of 2009’s Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl, VAN MORRISON is on the road showing off the dark charisma that has guided him through the years. No opening act. $69-$125. 8 p.m. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 800-745-3000. www.ticketmaster.com.
