Nava Vidha Bhakti

More than 200 Atlantans braved the icy weather to see classical Indian dance at the Gwinnett Center Jan. 9. The performance, titled Nava-Vidha Bhakti depicts the nine types of devotion to god.

The elegant dances are part of century-old traditions involving abhinaya (art of expression) and bhakti (devotion). For the finale, dancers from each of the different schools came together to perform a fusion piece combining many different styles of dance to an original composition.
