March 3, 2013 - The Nepali Festival at Centennial Olympic Park just happened to take place on one of the coldest days of the year. It seemed like the Nepali people brought Mount Everest to Atlanta, but the festival was rich in happy faces, inner beauty and proud Nepali people wanting to show off their heritage and culture. Nepalese people came from all over the Southeast: Virginia, North and South Carolina, north Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. There was a selection of Nepali food provided by Himalayan Spice restaurant, a parade of diverse costumes and dresses representing the different corners of Nepal, jewelry, arts, crafts, and Yagya Man Shakya performed the masked Lakhe Dance. Overall, despite the snow, there was a genuine sense of happiness and fun.
