Neutral Milk Hotel, Half Japanese

When: Sat., Oct. 26, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $32.50
Athens, Ga., by way of Ruston, La., psych-pop institution Neutral Milk Hotel has arguably made a bigger impact on the indie scene in its 15-year silence than when the band was actively playing shows. Helmed by notorious recluse Jeff Mangum, Neutral Milk Hotel issued On Avery Island (1996) and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998) before disappearing, all the while rumors of Mangum’s fragile mental state were scattershot throughout the press. That silence abruptly ended in 2008 with a handful of Mangum solo sets, culminating in this Neutral Milk Hotel reunion that swings through Atlanta from Sat.-Sun., Oct. 26-27. Saturday show: With Half Japanese. 8:30 p.m. Sold out. Sunday show: With Elf Power and Robert Schneider. 8 p.m. $32.50.
