Ladies of Bill Hallman store love the vintage styles

Last September, Chanthavanh "Nini" Souriyavong and Rosa McWaters opened Recollection Vintage inside Bill Hallman's Virginia-Highland store. The shop-within-a-shop offers vintage designer pieces from the likes of Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Pucci and more.

As stylists and thrift-store junkies, Souriyavong and McWaters have accumulated a number of interesting pieces over the years.

While searching for the perfect store name, McWaters turned to her dictionary. The first word she saw was "recollection;" a perfect fit for a vintage fashion boutique.

Its Bill Hallman location makes the boutique a natural stop-off for local fashionistas and big-name celebrities like Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul. Abdul bought a number of things from the hot spot during her stay here last winter.

Souriyavong and McWaters recently hosted a 1960s lingerie party at MJQ. Instead of walking the runway, models met for an onstage slumber party in a mod-styled bedroom. The pillow-fight finale sent ruffles, feathers and lace flying everywhere.
