"Joe" said he was against Rep. Lewis speaking because the movement is "not about one individual," and that it has been built on the idea of "no hierarchy."
After it was put to the crowd it was decided that Lewis could speak after the General Assembly, but Lewis left because he had a previous speaking engagement.
In a brief interview with CL before leaving, Lewis said, "I support the protesters in New York and here. It is the right time and the right place to be." He said, "It is the will of the people. When I was young we did similar actions. It is grassroots democracy at its best. I think something good will come of the moment."
