Peanut Butter Wolf, Sofa King

When: Sat., June 7, 11 p.m. 2014
Price: $15-$20
One of hip-hop's heavyweight tastemakers Peanut Butter Wolf, Chris Manak's alter ego, stops by Sat., June 7, for a rare DJ set. The veteran producer elected to pull hip-hop's strings behind the scenes in 1996 when he founded the deeply influential Stones Throw Records. Manak spurred the careers of the 2000s’ most genre-pushing producers and rappers by releasing the likes of J Dilla, Madvillain, Dâm-Funk, and countless others. Though his label's prestige overshadows his career as a DJ, Peanut Butter Wolf maintains a reputation as one of the world's fiercest crate-diggers.
