Playin' the field

Fun and Games

Remember those playground days when you didn't have to embarrass yourself playing softball and instead could revel in the actually fun games like the four-legged race, tug of war and water balloon toss? Watch some of Atlanta's finest grown-ups take part in these very games at Creative Loafing's field day. The Sept. 17 event also includes an art exhibit, free music and an after-party at Sidebar. Plus, it offers an opportunity to help Katrina victims, with a donation truck for goods that will go to the Gateway 24/7 Homeless Services Center, which is expected to receive an influx of evacuees. Free. Noon-6 p.m. Centennial Olympic Park, North Field, 265 Park Avenue West. 866-666-5409. clpromotions.com/fieldday.
