Polka brats

I am not German, but somehow my last name is, and that qualifies me to inform you about Atlanta's own OKTOBERFEST. From OCT. 27-28, the German Cultural Center hosts a slew of authentic German events at Atlantic Station. The Goethe Girls serve as goodwill ambassadors, steering people toward kegs of imported beer, music from the acclaimed Bavarian band Pros't, and a bratwurst-eating competition. Lederhosen are not required to attend, but if you've got 'em, I say wear 'em. $3-$35. Fri., 5-11 p.m.; Sat., noon-midnight. State and 17th streets. 404-724-9390. www.german-institute.org.
