See & Do - Readings & Signings: Khaled Hosseini May 23 2007

Mon., May 28

KHALED HOSSEINI’s (pictured) debut novel, The Kite Runner, took the book charts by storm in 2003 with its heart-wrenching tale of friendship, betrayal and political turmoil surrounding two Afghan boys. Hosseini’s follow-up, A Thousand Splendid Suns, revisits Afghanistan, this time through the eyes of two women. Amid the Soviet invasion and the Taliban’s violent and oppressive rule, Mariam and Laila forge a heroic familial bond essential to their families’ survival. The Chattahoochee Review and A Cappella Books bring Hosseini to Georgia Perimeter College for a much-anticipated reading and signing on Mon., MAY 28. Free. 7 p.m. Fine Arts Auditorium, Clarkston campus, 555 N. Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston. 404-681-5128. www.acappellabooks.com.
