See & Do - Readings & Signings: Timothy Crimmins and Anne H. Farrissee June 20 2007

Tues., June 26

Ever since it was built in 1889, the Georgia Capitol has been an Atlanta skyline focal point. Democracy Restored, a new book by TIMOTHY CRIMMINS (a Georgia State University history professor) and ANNE H. FARRISEE (historian for the state Capitol), celebrates the building with Diane Kirkland’s photography. On Tues., JUNE 26, the authors divulge little-known facts from the book, such as the building’s “gold” dome wasn’t added until 1959 during a renovation that saved the structure from collapsing. Free. 7 p.m. DeKalb History Center, 101 E. Court Square, Decatur. 404-370-8450. www.georgiacenterforthebook.org.
