Time can feel like it passes just a bit slower when Real Estate is playing on the stereo. Maybe it’s the band’s jangly slow-burning pop songs. Or perhaps it’s the nostalgic chord its carefree ’70s-era mid-tempo groove strikes — falling somewhere between Galaxie 500 and the Grateful Dead. Like the former act, the music New Jersey indie rockers Martin Courtney, Matt Mondanile, Alex Bleeker, Jackson Pollis, and Matt Kallman create together shimmers with simple grandeur. On its latest record, Atlas, the group continues to sharpen its poignant songwriting craft. Be sure to get to Terminal West early on Mon., March 31, for Austin’s Pure X, who’ll warm up the crowd with its hazy, down-tempo drifters.
