While Uncle Alan shows up briefly for a cameo on "Leave a Light On," this music belongs to the Wrights. The couple have obviously spent a lot of time soaking in their history, resulting in a musically familiar flow and a casually lilting demeanor. With alternating leads and plenty of sweetly blended harmonies, the pair showcase their great voices in a stellar selection of songs, which they wrote or co-wrote, and each one is a keeper.
Shannon kicks off the album with the title track, sounding at various times like a young Emmylou Harris or Jeannie Kendall. Adam has a mellow vocal tone that belies his youth, particularly on "You Got the Thorns," and he plays some fine lead guitar throughout.
Joined by musicians Alex McCullough, Hargus "Pig" Robbins, Eddie Bayers and Paul Franklin, the Wrights have delivered a smooth and totally entertaining package of intelligent, well-constructed material that puts a big dose of Georgia soul into Music City's glitter. It's good to see the local folks hit one out of the park.
