According to legend, Sweden’s answer to Nation of Ulysses-style lefty hardcore, Refused, broke up in MJQ’s parking lot in September 1998. Fourteen years later, the group returns to city that staged its demise to kick out a set of its greatest throat-bleeding jams — no doubt milking the mania of its most acclaimed album, The Shape of Punk To Come. But really, the agitated Swedes are only cleaning up the stage after OFF! rips it up. Fronted by former Black Flag/Circle Jerks vocalist Keith Morris, and featuring ex members of Hot Snakes, Redd Cross, and Burning Brides, Off! wields the original DNA of no bullshit, old school, Southern California hardcore with a vengeance.
