remember that the United States dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan three days after Hiroshima, instantly killing another 74,000 civilians. The Japanese government recognizes about 300,000 people that died as a result of the two atomic bombs the U.S. dropped in a single week in 1945.
On Aug. 9, more than 50 members of the Atlanta peace and justice community came together to remember the Nagasaki bombing. Song, dance, poetry and prayer marked the remembrance at the Carter Center Rose Garden. The event was sponsored by WAND (Women's Action for New Directions).

Atlanta's fifth annual Caribbean Carnival packed itself into Auburn Ave. this Saturday for a taste of Caribbean music and food, as well as a parade of hundreds dressed in traditional Caribbean carnival costumes.
