Salted caramel and bacon doughnut at Revolution Doughnuts

This leaning tower of doughnut sits lopsided on its tray as if slouching from the weight of its own deliciousness. One of Revolution's deep-fried yeast doughnuts (the bakery also makes a denser cake variety), the chewy 2- to 3-inch poof is slathered in thick frosting with a subtle salted caramel flavor and topped with crumbles of Spotted Trotter bacon. It sounds like overkill, but the decadent combination finds balance atop the springy pastry and is well worth waiting in the line that often extends out of the small bakery. $2.50.
