Mosey on over to Kingston Downs for the 36th annual ATLANTA STEEPLECHASE featuring five thoroughbred races over brush jumps with a total purse of more than $200,000. KEVN KINNEY -- The carmel-voiced frontman of drivin n cryin brings his solo act up to Winder's most hoppin' little blues shack for a 9 p.m. show. Chips/Winder (Nicoll)

LUCKY STRIKE BAND TO BAND 2000 -- It's the audience's turn to play judge. Atlanta-based Film hosts Weekend Excursion of Charlotte and the Still of Miami in the last of a three-part competition in 15 cities across the U.S. Songs from each of the 15 acts are included on a CD, which is given out as a freebie at the show; fans pick their favorite with the voting card enclosed. The bands are vying for cash and a chance to open for a national recording artist. Variety Playhouse (Keel)

MANDARICO, LEFT FRONT TIRE -- A lively and refreshingly unusual pairing featuring the sweaty, horn-driven world beat of Mandorico and the punky kick of the properly-inflated Left Front Tire. If you can't dance to tonight's bands, you have been dead for some time. Jr. James & the Late Guitar -- a hybrid of new wave, jazz, world beat and blues (among others), this album doesn't fuse styles -- present their most recent release Second of Nine as the opening act. Echo Lounge (Smith/Hutchinson)

PRINCE -- The Purple One is making another stop in Atlanta on his Hit N' Run Tour. And surprise, tickets go on sale the day before the show. This performance will cover Prince's long musical history with "I Wanna Be Your Lover" to "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World." Joining the Minneapolis native will be his band NPG and special guests Millennia and the Fonky Bald Heads. The Civic Center won't offer the intimacy of Prince's last visit at the Tabernacle, but the ticket price is worth it. Atlanta Civic Center (Keel)
