BAHA MEN, MAXI PRIEST — Presenting world music for those who prefer to meet the world half way, Bahamian sports-reel perennials Baha Men and English reggae-lite crossover Maxi Priest converge for an Island Jam. Chastain Park Amphitheater (Sarig)

BEER OLYMPICS — See Earshot. Masquerade (Nicoll)

BRASS CASTLE — Opening for Ocelot and Rizzudo tonight, local trio Brass Candle debut their three-song single, a strange and largely successful mix of balls-out ’70s metal, Southern rock and alt-indie styles. The Earl (Sarig)

LAUREN FINCHAM — Local singer/songwriter Lauren Fincham has a new CD, Burning Tree, featuring 15 tracks of exquisitely recorded, quasi-acoustic fare that’s adult-styled but retains a Suzanne Vega-type edge. She brings her guitar to Cobb for an 8 p.m. in-store set. Borders Books & Music/Cobb Parkway (Sarig)

MARK GRANT — See Record Reviews, p. 95. eleven50 (Ware)

CHUCK LEAVELL — See article, p. 71. Media Play/Cumberland Mall (Smith)

MOE. — See listing for Fri., July 20. Masquerade Music Park (Prusin)

O.A.R. — Working the upbeat, jam-friendly vibe, the 22-year-old full-time Ohio State students of O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) have managed to create a substantial name for themselves as a college/touring act. With its incorporation of saxophone and get-down grooves, O.A.R. taps the same musical nerve that has turned groups like the Dave Matthews and Blues Traveler into mega-acts. Roxy (Hutchinson)

PSYCHE ORIGAMI, SURVIVALIST, MINAMINA GOODSONG - DJ Synthesis of Psyche Origami may “look like Bill Gates,” as his partner Wyzsztyk jokes on record, but this hip-hop duo resides far from Gates’ corporate world. Psyche teams up with Minamina Goodsong and Survivalist, heading a deep bill that brings garden-fresh beats and cultivated rhymes from like minds. With DJ Fumanchu on the decks. Echo Lounge (Bethea)

YULE LOG’S CHRISTMAS-IN-JULY PARTY — Ten-foot-tall madman Jim Stacy transforms himself into Shitty Claus for a rare off-season appearance. He’ll perform raunchy punk rock renditions of Yuletide favorites, with more than a little help from the kindly old elves of Truckadelic. Athens-based high-speed popsters Hayride are also on the bill, though they’ll probably re-name themselves Sleighride for the night. Star Bar (Nicoll)
