As much as scars symbolize hurt and pain, they also represent healing and renewal. In SCAR/ED at Eyedrum on NOV. 4, dancer and artist Blake Beckham (right) uses performance art to explore scarring, its nature and implications. Beckham’s body, covered in drawings depicting anatomically correct organs, muscles and nerves, acts as her primary canvas. She intends for audience members to question the established boundaries between interior and exterior. In addition to her original dance choreography, Beckham also presents a video series of individuals recalling their favorite scar-related stories. $8. 8 p.m. 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. 404-522-0655. www.eyedrum.org. www.blakebeckhamdancing.blogspot.com.
