Culture Surfing - Scott Ingram likes it raw

Atlanta-based artist reaches international audience

Artist Scott Ingram may be Atlanta-based, but his work has reached an international audience with recent shows in Madrid, Spain; Victoria, British Columbia; and now his latest solo show Building Futures through Jan. 12 at Solomon Projects. Ingram’s paintings done in a rainbow assortment of nail-polish colors have injected wit and a fair amount of chemical funk into the legacy of minimalism. More recently, Ingram’s work has ventured into architecture in a body of work centered on the Case Study homes designed by California architects.

Richard Prince at the Guggenheim: “If you get it, I’m curious what you’re getting.”

Coconut Records: “Pushing out Band of Horses on my top 10. Jason, come to Atlanta.”

All things raw: “Concrete, wood, fish, skin and most vegetables.”

Berlin: “A great place for poor artists to live, an amazing place for poor artists to show.”

Young ATL galleries: “Get This!, Beep Beep. Good stuff. Brodie, Hense, Born, Bennett, Stevie, Moore. You know who you are; give us the scene we’ve been waitin’ for.”

Donald Judd studio (SoHo): “See it before they renovate it. It might not change your life, but it will show you how to live it.”
