The lineup for Q100’s FROSTY THE SHOWMAN HOLIDAY CONCERT is too hot for any real frost to form. The DEC. 14 event features flavor-of-the-month Avril Lavigne (see Vibes, p. 99), who at 18 is the punk-pop anti-Britney. In her hit, “Complicated,” the Canadian singer/songwriter claims she doesn’t care what she looks like — she simply wants to rock. How radical, dude. U.K. artists Craig David, with his sexy R&B crooning, and singer/songwriter Daniel Bedingfield spread Brit holiday cheer. $25. 6:30 p.m. (doors). So score yourself a bottle of cheap brandy, take KOUFAX’s Social Life for a Friday-night solo spin, then ignore the implications of the CD’s “Saturdays Alone,” and join the boys for this early show DEC. 14. Babes in Boyland

Just in time for the holidays, Outwrite Bookstore decks its halls with some angelic creatures — though not the kind stuck on top of a tree. EYE CANDY, an exhibition of works by Harold Daniels, showcases the local photographer’s talent for the sensual. Encompassing fashion photography, portraiture and fine art images, Daniels’ creations vary from the naughty (such as former Atlantan and Real World alum Danny Roberts, pictured with his beau, Paul, right) to the noteworthy, with shots of hip-hoppers Jazze Pha and Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes. High(land) spirits

The 10th annual Atlanta CELTIC CHRISTMAS CONCERT DEC. 13-14 embraces music, poetry, dance and storytelling to celebrate the Christmas traditions of Celtic lands. Performers include Norman Blake of O Brother, Where Art Thou? fame, the Buddy O’Reilly Band, Five Fabulous Female Fiddlers, Irish tenor James Flannery, the Gateway Performance Company, John Stephens of Theatre Gael, the Scottish Highland Dancers and more. $5-$15. 8 p.m. Glenn Memorial Auditorium, Emory University, 1652 N. The Peachtree Film Society showcases the art of the sight gag with 13 SPECIAL ANIMATED AND LIVE-ACTION SHORT FILMS DEC. 17. The live-action shorts address such universal themes as getting a Dear John letter from your cat and being stalked by a homicidal chicken. Things take a turn for the screwy with five cartoons apiece from Bill Plympton and Don Hertzfeldt. Plympton’s already well known for pieces such as “25 Ways to Quit Smoking.” Hertzfeldt earned a 2000 Oscar nomination for “Rejected” — and despite his simple animation style (it’s a notch above stick figures), he scrawls some of the most outrageously funny and dark cartoons you’ll ever see. $6.50-$7.50. 7:30 p.m. Lefont Garden Hills Cinema, 2835 Peachtree Road. 770-729-8487. www.peachtreefilm.org.
