?A demonic bunny and the angsty honesty of Jake Gyllenhaal all helped DONNIE DARKO attain cult status after its release on DVD. But very few people ever saw it on the big screen. Madstone Theaters is changing all that with its Friday EXTRA: PREMIERE PIC SERIES, featuring six films that have never been screened in Atlanta. The JUNE 20 showing of Darko also includes a Q&A with writer/director Richard Kelly. ?It’s the classic tale of love and loss set against a peasant uprising in France ... No, wait, that’s Les Miserables. It’s the classic tale of love and loss set in a 19th-century opera house ... No, that’s Phantom of the Opera. MISS SAIGON is actually the classic tale (say it with me, folks) of love and loss set in war-torn Vietnam circa 1975. The sixth longest-running show in Broadway history arrives in Atlanta JUNE 24-29, with a new staging by director Mitchell Lemsky.
