Wine South, Ansley Park Tour of Homes and more

SEPTEMBER 14 THURSDAY

And you thought biker gangs were wild. If you’re looking for hell on wheels minus the hogs and Hells Angels, the fifth annual DELIVERANCE SCOOTER RALLY might be more your speed. The weekend of free-wheelin’ fun features a ride around town with Atlanta’s first ladies-only Scooter club, Scarlett Fever, a Best in Show competition and two all-night parties. (Don’t fret, the events schedule includes time for power naps.) $15. Continues through Sept. 17. www.imperialsc.com/d5. (Casey McIntyre)

SEPTEMBER 15 FRIDAY

Wine lovers, take note! The seventh annual WINE SOUTH FESTIVAL starts today. This evening’s Reserve Tasting features a selection of the world’s finest wines along with a dinner and silent auction benefitting Angel Flight Atlanta. The Grand Festival Tasting on Saturday will showcase more than 600 wines, samples from popular Atlanta restaurants, chef demonstrations and seminars. $80-$165. Fri., 7-10 p.m. InterContinental Hotel, 3315 Peachtree Road. Sat., Sept. 16, 1-5 p.m. Gwinnett Convention Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth. www.winesouth.com. (Besha Rodell)

SEPTEMBER 16 SATURDAY

Ansley Park hosts its 15th annual TOUR OF HOMES with the 2006 theme “Under the Green Canopy.” Explore 18th- and 19th-century furnishings with a modern twist, view the opulent gardens featured in Tyler Perry’s 2007 film, Daddy’s Little Girls, and visit Ansley Park’s first townhouse now infused with Japanese prints, Thai paintings and local artist L. Comer Jennings Jr.’s work. $20-$25. Sat., noon-6 p.m.; Sun., noon-5 p.m. Peachtree Circle and 15th Street. 404-888-9030. www.ansleypark.org. (Sibongile Lynch)

SEPTEMBER 16 SATURDAY

B-boys and B-girls of Atlanta: Top-rock, pop-lock and six-step over to the Relapse Theatre tonight for THAT’S THE JOINT to see crews battle in the three-on-three break-dancing competition. You can freeze or head spin, but if your plans include “the robot” then don’t even bother. This event also celebrates the seventh anniversary of the Fraggle Rock Crew, who have danced alongside some of the world’s best. $10. 6 p.m.-midnight. 380 14th St. 404-541-9911. www.relapsecomedy.com. (NG)

SEPTEMBER 16 SATURDAY

Just like Christmas in July celebrates the six-month mark between past and future credit card debt, St. Patty’s Day in September reminds us that green beer, Riverdancing and cabbage really are seasonless pastimes. Atlanta gets its clog on today with the FALL IRISH FESTIVAL, a day-long event featuring Irish music, dancing, art, literature and a Castle Brands liquor tasting. Free-$15. 2-7 p.m. Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Roswell, 1075 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell. www.atlantairishmusic.com. (DM)

SEPTEMBER 19 TUESDAY

MTV’s “Video Music Awards” was a hot mess: Performers missed cues, scripted exchanges weren’t funny and it relegated THE RACONTEURS (above) to house-band status. C’mon, the White Stripes’ Jack White ain’t no Paul Schaeffer! But if the snippets of the band’s garage-rock debut, Broken Boy Soldiers, caught your attention, tonight’s 100 percent commercial-free Tabernacle performance should keep it. $30. 8 p.m. 152 Luckie St. 404-659-9022. www.livenation.com.
