Unembedded and Muddy Buddy

JUNE 22 FRIDAY

Tonight the Atlanta Photography Group Gallery opens UNEMBEDDED (pictured), a startling look at the war in Iraq through the eyes of independent freelance photographers Ghaith Abdul-Ahad, Kael Alford, Thorne Anderson and Rita Leistner. The exhibition documents the chaos many Americans read about but few truly comprehend. Alford offers some insight with an artist’s introduction at tonight’s event. Through July 28. Free. Opening reception: 7 p.m. Regular hours: Wed.-Sat., noon-4 p.m. Tula Art Center, 75 Bennett St. 404-605-0605. www.apgphoto.org. (Debbie Michaud)

JUNE 24 SUNDAY

It’s time to get down and dirty for a clean cause. During MUDDY BUDDY, more than 800 teams traffic a six-mile obstacle course ending in a 50-foot-long, sticky mud pit at the Georgia International Horse Park. Kids also have a chance to play in the slop at the mini-Muddy Buddy. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation. $10-$130. 8 a.m. 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway, Conyers. 818-707-8867. www.muddybuddy.com. (Glenn LaFollette)
