CL'S noted acts for Thursday.21

CRACKER APOTHECARY SHOW -- Cracker-jack wiseguy David Lowery brings the combined talents of both Cracker and his former band Camper Van Beethoven together tonight on stage for a three-hour, three-ring circus. Camper alumni Victor Krummenacher, Greg Lisher and Jonathan Segel will open the show performing solo material then join Lowery and Johnny Hickman for songs from the Cracker canon and select bits of the massive Camper catalog. A regular Athens Cracker show is always different from the greatest-hits package Atlanta demands, so the short drive over to the Classic City tonight should be no barrier for hard-core fans. 40 Watt/Athens (Smith)

KENNY HOWES AND THEY YEAH! ,THE MICHELE MALONE STARS , MONOCHROME -- Yeah, Kenny and the boys will getcha shakin' in the night, but a fast 'n' furious set by local legend Michele Malone and her sunny band should really bring out the fans tonight. Monochrome puts a nice finishing touch on this solid and diverse group portrait. Star Bar (Smith)

LYRICIST LOUNGE -- Loads of rhythmic verbiage, more than a modicum of intelligence and fat, juicy beats should hold sway Thursday night when Bahamadia and Slum Village swing through town for the latest installment of the Lyricist Lounge. Some cat named Mos Def is also scheduled to kick spit. The evening promises to offer some of the most imaginative uses of the English language since George W. claimed the "RATS" ad wasn't meant to be "subliminable." Variety Playhouse (Dames)

AMY PIKE, BLUEJAYS, HOLY SMOKES -- A great evening of offbeat country and ersatz Americana is in store here, highlighted by former Continentals vocalist Pike in her newer, rowdier incarnation. And don't miss the Bluejays, an extra-smooth, new-twang band featuring Jay Murphree and Kat Cunningham of Poor Little Fools. Echo Lounge (Nicoll)

PROJECT LOGIC FEATURING DJ LOGIC -- see article.

STB, STEREO POPSICLE -- Hard-hats should be required headgear in the Highland Avenue area tonight. Demolition crew chief Sonia Tetlow will be bringing her wrecking crew downstairs to implode the Dark Horse 'round midnight. Once the countdown is set, the explosive songwriter will detonate on the tiny stage and send debris of shredded rockin' rage in every direction. Soulful Trina Meade and her hard-rockin' Popsicle men will help do some severe structural damage to the cavernous club area by blowin' the roof off tha sucka. Dark Horse (Smith)
