MONDAY, OCTOBER 23

Noted Acts
BARENAKED LADIES -- Always a hoot in concert, Toronto's Barenaked Ladies stand above other 99X rock with their crowd-enticing enthusiasm, change of tempos and clever raps. Of course, they're also the type of band that turned "alternative" into something Nirvana never imagined -- something you can whistle in the elevator as you head to lunch. Philips Arena (Allen)

BRIAN AND CHRIS, DAVEY WILLIAMS -- California electronics enthusiasts Brian and Chris utilize everything they can in their sound collage outfit, bringing to mind the cut-up antics of Negativeland or the electro-homemade sounds of Voice Crack. Birmingham guitar deconstructivist Davey Williams will be joining them, matching his plinks for their plonks. It should be interesting to see Williams pairing with an electrical act, rather than with a saxophonist, as we've seen him with several times this year. Eyedrum (Khalid)

ILLUMINATI -- This decent, if fairly pedestrian, outfit from D.C. makes its Atlanta debut. Alt-rock in the Red Hot Chili Peppers/Jane's Addiction mold with occasional hip-hop leanings, their claim to fame is having recorded with NBA star Walt Williams. Somber Reptile (Sarig)
