ASAD RIZVI You know how they say toilets in Australia flush backward? Well, house music in the U.K. is also different. Whereas much house music merely sounds like a dripping faucet, the tech-house of U.K. producer/DJ Rizvi is more like a massaging shower head. Rizvi drops jams that can sputter or soothe, and all leave you feeling quivery in your nethers. Residents Chris Coleman and Jason Gerry make sure that once you pop you can't stop. $10. 10 p.m. Lava Lounge. 404-873-6189. www.cosmolava.com. -- Tony Ware
ATLANTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA Pops specialist Michael Krajewski, best known as principal pops conductor for the Houston Symphony, leads the ASO in a holiday concert featuring selections from The Sound of Music ("Edelweiss," "Climb Every Mountain," "My Favorite Things") with appropriate musical guests: the modern incarnation of the Trapp Family Singers (musical heirs of the family in the film's story). The show also includes seasonal favorites such as "Carol of the Bells" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" $21--$58. 8 p.m. Symphony Hall. 404-733-5000. www.atlantasymphony.org. -- Mark Gresham
SOL DRIVEN TRAIN Charleston, S.C.-based Sol Driven Train seamlessly mixes Allmanesque Southern rock, languid world-beat, swampy funk and downright catchy melodies as they swap lead singers and instruments. A punchy horn section adds an extra dimension of sweaty soul to the genre-blurring jam party. Call for price. 9 p.m. The Saloon. 770-992-6266. www.thesaloonatlanta.com. -- Lee Valentine Smith
STOVALL, BLAKE RAINEY & HIS DEMONS, GEORGIA FIREFLIES Alternative yuckster act Stovall plays lurching country tunes that swagger with an inbred-and-loving-it harangue. Blake Rainey & His Demons play Paul Westerberg-style rock songs. Atlanta duo the Georgia Fireflies stomp out old-timey country-folk songs wedged into a modern context. Anything from spoons and washboards to electric guitars and tape loops are fair game in each song's instrumentation. $7. 9 p.m. The Earl. 404-522-3950. www.badearl.com. -- Chad Radford

Acoustic and intimate, the gregarious performer will most likely visit some of your favorite Soul songs in a stripped-down format as he throws in some goodies you probably haven't heard. $30. 8 p.m. Eddie's Attic. 404-377-4976. www.eddiesattic.com. -- LVS
FEMME COVERT, EAR PWR, ME AND HIM CALL IT US, TREE CREATURE, AFRICAN GREYS North Carolina acts Femme Covert and EAR PWR play bent lo-fi synth-punk/pop tones. Me and Him Call It Us create a wall of confrontational post-hardcore noise. Tree Creature plays calm drone pop. African Greys spit out convulsive and reverb-drenched no-wave shutters that resonate with aggressive and art-damaged grooves. $5. 9 p.m. Eyedrum. 404-522-0655. www.eyedrum.org. -- CR
GWEN HUGHES A former rocker who has since morphed into a jazz-song stylist, vocalist Hughes and her Retro Jazz Kats, one of Atlanta's top swing bands, jazz up Christmas in the final days of the week just before The Holiday itself lands in your chimney. $10 cover/$10 min. 8 p.m. Churchill Grounds. 404-876-3030. www.churchillgrounds.com. -- MG
THA PUMPSTA According to the liberal Jew-run media, New-York-via-Cobb-County DJ Tha Pumpsta is making lemonade into lemons and juicy sacred cow hamburgers (with big buns, please) into straight-up beef. They can't handle how he churned the booty anthems in a Brooklyn hipster blender during the bump 'n' grind "Kill Whitie" parties. But you, my crunked up crackahs, know how to get trashed and talk trash, so say "fuck y'all" to all those who aren't down with the brown sound. Hip-hop and ya don't stop, because Oreo cookies are delicious even in reverse. Graboids and Ours to Alibi also perform. $7. 9 p.m. Lenny's Bar. 404-577-7721. www.lennysbar.com. -- TW
Gwen Hughes See Sound Menu for Fri., Dec. 22. $10 cover/$10 min. 8 p.m. Churchill Grounds. 404-876-3030. www.churchillgrounds.com. -- MG
Libby Johnson As a folkish singer/songwriter, Johnson gets by on a smart, wry voice and lyrics that identify life's potholes without falling into them. She's reminiscent of Aimee Mann, but less cynical. On Annabella, her acclaimed album for Wrong Records, she makes a joyful noise without getting giddy. A national tour brings her to Eddie's Attic for a concert that opens with the Tin Roof and Gary Pfaff. $10. 7:30 p.m. Eddie's Attic. 404-377-4976. www.eddiesattic.com. -- Mosi Reeves

BIG PENGUIN. MURDERED, FORGE BY FIRE, LIGHT PUPIL DILATE Big Penguin is an erratic bass and drum duo that cranks out metallic punk weirdness that's akin to Frank Zappa and the Residents. Light Pupil Dilate plays speedy, artsy metallic riffs that are tailor-made for old-school skateboard videos. Forge by Fire finds inspiration in the era that spawned good records by Nuclear Assault, Anthrax et. al. Murdered also performs. $5. 8 p.m. 10 High. 404-873-3607. www.tenhighclub.com. -- CR
LITTLE COUNTRY GIANTS, SON OF THE JERK, THE LOWLANDS The LCGs put out one of the best CDs of the year, and their sweet, soft Appalachian sound is a delight. SOTJ is the two primary players of Sodajerk, doing an acoustic set of their own brand of country music. Hailing from North Carolina, the Lowlands have a basic "Genericana" sound. Not bad, but not really that memorable. $10. 8 p.m. Eddie's Attic. 404-377-4976. www.eddiesattic.com. -- JK
